Wondering if anyone subscribed to this new mag or maybe read a copy or two. Is it worthwhile from a builder's viewpoint?

There's not really technical information for builders, it's more for people who really love guitars. I think a lot of it would be of interest to builders. For example, they have a feature this month on Minnesota luthiers and interviews with Charles Hoffman, Jim Olson, etc... Before that they had a nice in-depth article on Bill Collings and his company.

I've enjoyed my subscription so far. The photography, layout, and writing is really well done, and there are not a lot of ads.

It's really like the New Yorker of guitar mags -- not that I've ever read the New Yorker, but the photo spreads are beautiful, loads of cool interviews, wonderful articles on obscure weird stuff (like string package collections). Plus I've really been impressed with some of the artists they select to cover, like Neko Case, who's an amazing songwriter most people don't know about. There's no building tips or info like that -- mostly how luthiers, like Santa Cruz or Collings started and how their business runs. Good inspirational stories that are really well written and overall the whole mag has a very high wow factor. I always jones for it in my mailbox -- a new one is coming out in a week I think. If you like guitars, you'll probably like it.

Hi. I've lived in Chicago the past 6 years, but I'm from Michigan originally. And soon, I'll be moving to Portland, OR. Thanks for the welcome. I come to the site every once and a while for tips and info. Really helpful stuff. I'm building my 5th guitar right now for a friend. A OOO type body, with sapele and spruce. It's coming along nice.

Ron, our own Warren Gash does interviews from them, he interviewed Sergei De Yonge last summer, that's how i got invited by Warren to attend this event where Mr De Yonge had thrown his summer party, Warren showed me the fretboard journal and it looked very professional and an interesting read with quality paper!

Again, i'm not paid yet to endorse this though!

I've had a subscription since before their first issue and have really enjoyed every one. The magazine is visually oriented with huge pictures but all the articles are well written and entertaining. Like Jon said earlier, it isn't technical enough for luthiers to get anything out of it, but if you like instruments, it is near perfect.
